Next week, the American Lung Association in Florida is turning Orlando turquoise to raise awareness about lung cancer, honor those impacted and encourage residents to take action to help end the disease.

The American Lung Association's Lung Cancer Action Week kicks off May 5 and it will place a focus on Black men and women getting screened for lung cancer. The annual observance raises awareness about lung cancer and encourages action to prevent and detect it early. In fact, the Lung Association is offering free lung cancer screenings to Illinois residents now through the month of May.

On Saturday, May 3, more than 150 firefighters from five departments across the Atlanta area will join the American Lung Association to raise awareness and critical funds for people living with lung disease. They will scale 40 stories of Promenade Tower, one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers as part of the Fight For Air Climb Atlanta.

Assembly Bill 914 (R. Garcia, District 50) would provide guidance for a development of a statewide clean air safety net to address major local pollution hotspots. AB 914 has the strong support of the Lung Association and organizations representing nurses, lung health experts, asthma coalitions and more. The 29th annual Las Olas Wine and Food Festival, Fort Lauderdale’s longest-running charitable wine and food festival, returned to Las Olas Boulevard tonight, raising nearly $440,000 to support the American Lung Association. More than 2,500 attendees strolled through the four-block takeover of the iconic boulevard, sampling dishes from more than 50 of South Florida’s best restaurants and more than 200 sips from around the world.

American Lung Association Tips for Residents as  Jones Road Fire Grows and Evacuation Orders Are Issued Residents in Ocean County and Lacey townships are facing evacuations and heavy smoke from the Jones Road Wildfire. Smoke from these fires has created unhealthy air quality conditions.
