LUNG FORCE Walk at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will Include Free Health Screenings Provided by Cleveland Clinic

The health system is presenting sponsor of event taking place September 29

The American Lung Association has announced that Cleveland Clinic will provide free health screenings at the organization’s 10th annual LUNG FORCE Walk. Cleveland Clinic is the presenting sponsor of the event, which takes place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo (3900 Wildlife Way, Cleveland, OH 44109) on September 29 at 9 a.m.

“We look forward to once again offering free health screenings at the LUNG FORCE Walk this year,” said Andre Smith, M.D., pulmonologist with Cleveland Clinic Integrated Hospital Care Institute. “Early lung disease detection can save lives, and we are proud to be able to support the community at this event. Additionally, we will be on site to connect community members with resources to help them to better understand their conditions and manage their health.”

The LUNG FORCE Walk is held to support lifesaving research, local programs and advocacy for the 1.6 million people in Ohio suffering from lung disease.

“Respiratory viruses are very prevalent in the fall. When people get sick, it prevents them from doing the things they love to do. The Cleveland community needs strong partners like Cleveland Clinic to step up and help support lung health in our communities,” said Kim Covey, Executive Director of the Lung Association. “We’re grateful for all of the work and resources that Cleveland Clinic is putting toward our communities.”

In addition to a fun, family environment and health screenings, participants will enjoy a 5K route (untimed) through the Cleveland Zoo (which will be closed to the public during the event) or they can choose a shorter 1-mile option.

The Lung Association encourages you to join us at this community event for celebration, education and comradery. Registration for individuals and teams for the LUNG FORCE Walk is free, but fundraising is encouraged to support the mission of the American Lung Association. Participants will receive complimentary Zoo admission and free parking at the event if they arrive by 9:30 a.m.
