Fighting for Air: Jacksonville Community Raises Nearly $150K for Lung Health

More than 350 people participated in American Lung Association’s 17th annual Fight For Air Climb at Bank of America Tower

This morning, during the American Lung Association’s 17th annual Jacksonville Fight For Air Climb, more than 350 community members and lung health advocates from across the area climbed 37 floors, 734 steps, to the top of the Bank of America Tower. The event raised nearly $150,000, and counting, to support the Lung Association’s lifesaving research, programming and advocacy for the more than 3.2 million people in Florida living with lung disease. Alive Credit Union served as presenting sponsor of the event.

“We are grateful to everyone who came out today to support loved ones, friends and neighbors who are impacted by lung disease and fight for every breath,” said Jeremy LaTraverse, Jacksonville Climb event chair, Frozen Category manager at Southeastern Grocers, and Firefighter/EMT. “Thank you to our participants, firefighters and first responders, volunteers and sponsors who came out today to raise nearly $150,000 to save lives—with more funds still coming in. Every step we’ve taken today will help us get closer to a future free of lung cancer and lung disease.”

Funds raised from the Jacksonville Fight For Air Climb support the mission of the Lung Association and its efforts to defeat lung cancer, champion clean air, improve the quality of life for those with lung disease and their families and create a tobacco-free future.
