Hundreds Gearing Up to Put Their Best Foot Forward for Lung Health

Lung Association Walk at Wheaton’s Cantigny Park offers participants two routes, a health fest and live music

Lace up your gym shows and get ready to power-walk, strut or stroll for lung health. The American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Walk, presented by Northwestern Medicine, returns to Wheaton’s Cantigny Park in October. Walkers, families, and teams from across Greater Chicago are welcome to join the family-friendly event on Sunday October 20th. The event is a festive fundraiser to support the Lung Association’s efforts to not only improve lung health, but also the lives of people across the state.

Participants can choose a 5K or 1.5-mile route that weaves both inside and outside of beautiful Cantigny Park. They’ll also find a family health and resource fest including live music, a Kids Zone, free dental kits from Delta Dental, flu shots by CVS Health and free radon kits. Walkers are also encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and children with asthma will receive free superhero capes.

Registration for the walk is completely free. Check-in for the LUNG FORCE Walk is at 8:30am at Cantigny Park (1S151 Winfield Rd) in Wheaton, and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m. Visit
LUNGFORCE.org/Chicago to register and find more information about the event.

More than 1.8 million Illinoisians, including just over one million people in the Greater Chicago area, have a lung disease and more than 9,000 across the state die from it each year. Funds raised from the walk will help the Lung Association’s efforts to prevent lung disease through lifesaving research, education, and advocacy.
