Gilchrist/Bissell Wealth Management of Raymond James Returns to Sponsor Charleston LUNG FORCE Run/Walk on November 9

Lung Association’s annual 5K at Folly Beach County Park fundraises for lifesaving research and public health initiatives in South Carolina and beyond

The American Lung Association in South Carolina is delighted to recognize Gilchrist/Bissell Wealth Management of Raymond James for its continued investment in lung health and the Charleston community. The company has signed on as presenting sponsor for the 11th annual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk at Folly Beach County Park on Saturday, November 9.

“We're proud to continue our partnership with the American Lung Association on the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk and unite our community as one mighty force for lung health,” said Banks Marion, advisor at Gilchrist/Bissell Wealth Management of Raymond James and member of the Lung Association’s South Carolina Leadership Board. “We’re excited to help bring our Lowcountry community together to raise awareness and critical funds to end lung disease and save lives—all while having fun and getting some exercise.”

The LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is not your everyday 5K—the route is right on the beach! Participants may run or walk the 5K, and runners receive timed results. Everyone is welcome—individuals of all fitness levels, lung cancer survivors, caregivers, families, company teams and even four-legged friends. Participants are encouraged to dress in turquoise, the signature color of LUNG FORCE and symbol of hope.

The LUNG FORCE Run/Walk supports lifesaving research, local programs and advocacy for the more than 569,000 South Carolinians who live with lung disease, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. But there is hope. Thanks to greater awareness and advancements in detection and treatment, the survival rate has increased by 44 percent in the last decade. Funding research, encouraging lung cancer screening and reducing stigma around the disease is the key to saving lives.

The Charleston LUNG FORCE Run/Walk kicks off at the Dunes House at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 9. For more information and to register, visit LUNGFORCE.org/Charleston.
