Fighting For Air: Charlotte Community Raises Nearly $110,000 for Lung Health

More than 200 people participated in American Lung Association’s 12th annual Fight For Air Climb Charlotte at The VUE

This morning, during the American Lung Association’s 12th annual Fight For Air Climb Charlotte, more than 200 community members and lung health advocates from across the area climbed 51 floors to the top of The VUE, the tallest residential building in the Carolinas. The event raised nearly $110,000, and counting, to support the Lung Association’s lifesaving research, programming and advocacy for the more than 1.6 million people in North Carolina living with lung disease. Raymond James served as presenting sponsor of the event.

“We are grateful to everyone who came out today to support loved ones, friends and neighbors who are impacted by lung disease and fight for every breath,” said John Lawrence, member of the Lung Association’s North Carolina Leadership Board. “Thank you to our participants, volunteers and sponsors who came out today to raise $110,000 to save lives—with more funds still coming in. Every step we’ve taken today will help us get closer to a future free of lung cancer and lung disease.”

Funds raised from the Fight For Air Climb Charlotte support the mission of the Lung Association and its efforts to defeat lung cancer, champion clean air, improve the quality of life for those with lung disease and their families and create a tobacco-free future.
