Use of CT Lung Densitometry as Outcome Measure for Emphysema Progression: The Case of Losartan – American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine
This letter from the lung research community addresses the recent Airways Clinical Research Centers study “Losartan Effects on Emphysema Progression (LEEP)”, which found that Losartan did not slow emphysema. The authors discuss the context and implications of the negative findings, remaining optimistic that this comprehensive study will bring clinicians closer to new treatment options for COPD and importantly, standardize evaluation of emphysema progression using high resolution CT.
