This study discovered several significant clinical factors that predict how lung function in children with asthma fare as they move into adulthood, notably that boys who had 1-2 asthma exacerbations per year tended to have reduced lung function with each passing year. Understanding these predictors can help clinicians develop treatment to slow or stop asthma from progressing and extending into adulthood.
