Effect of chronic mucus hypersecretion on treatment responses to inhaled therapies in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Post hoc analysis of the IMPACT trial
This study found that a once-daily treatment combining three COPD drugs improved lung function and reduced exacerbations in COPD patients, even those with chronic mucus hypersecretion. This is important because this triple therapy is more effective than any combination of two and could help customize treatments for COPD patients depending on their symptoms. Co-authors Drs. Dransfield, Criner, and Wise are ACRC investigators, and Dr. Han is a medical spokesperson for the Lung Association.
