NADK-mediated de novo NADP(H) synthesis is a metabolic adaptation essential for breast cancer metastasis

This study found an adaptation in the metabolism of breast cancer cells which is essential to metastasis, or the spreading of cancer cells. This is important because it represents a previously uncharacterized component of the signaling pathway that is a potential target for a new drug to slow the growth and spread of cancer cells, especially to lung tissue. Senior author Ana Gomes, PhD, was funded by the Lung Association Innovation Award for her work on the lung cancer and the aging process.
