I have been living in the New Castle, PA area for 53 years. I am a nonsmoker but have severe allergies and breathing problems. I have just found out I have nodules on my left lung, a chronic sore throat and can't go out most days in the summer, because the air is not safe to breathe. I feel like I'm breathing underwater.
I'm old enough to remember what clean, fresh air used to feel like around here. Because the area is poor, and the city government doesn't care what they're pumping into our air, you're doomed to have some sort of lung or throat problems down the road or even worse, a shortened lifespan. The rate of childhood breathing problems has risen unbelievably high in our area, and that is something everyone should be ashamed of.
