On the last day of my employment before I retired five years ago, I developed pneumonia. After week in the hospital, I was discharged and sent to see a pulmonary specialist and an allergist who diagnosed me with asthma.
On bad air days, my peak flow meter shows my difficulties. I cannot walk or garden outdoors as I love to do. I believe air pollution has contributed to my allergies and now asthma, because I live in New London, CT, which received an “F” on the State of the Air report.
