Access to clean air is critical. As a pulmonologist I am motivated by helping to alleviate my patients’ suffering from asthma, COPD, lung cancer, pneumonia, and other lung diseases that can be caused by and exacerbated by dirty air. I realize that much human suffering worldwide could be prevented by decreasing air pollution levels. Just as access to clean water has been one of the greatest public health achievements of all time, access to clean air is also critical when it comes to protecting health worldwide.
