EGPA is a rare disease previously known as Churg-Strauss syndrome. In most patients it affects your lungs, but it can also affect other organs in your body. It is important to know what steps to take when you have been diagnosed.
Step 1: Learn About EGPA
EGPA is a rare form of vasculitis caused by inflammation within small blood vessels in your body. EGPA can affect your body in many ways. Depending on which organs are affected, your symptoms can vary. Learn about what symptoms you may experience so you can better manage your disease.
Step 2: Follow Your Treatment Plan
Find out how to best manage and treat your disease. It is important to work with your healthcare provider to find out what treatment works best for you. You may need to see different specialists to manage your disease, so it will be important to encourage your healthcare team to communicate with each other for the most comprehensive approach to your care.
Step 3: Find Support
Although EGPA is rare, you are not alone. Help and support are available. Support options through the American Lung Association include:
- Better Breathers Club support groups, meeting in-person or virtually and led by a facilitator trained through the American Lung Association.
