Partnerships and Collaborations: Michigan

Ways we are partnering in Michigan to improve asthma control through CDC's EXHALE strategies.

Education on Asthma Self-Management

The Lung Association is collaborating with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to bring the Open Airways for Schools, a pediatric asthma self-management education program to elementary-aged children with asthma in counties with high rates of asthma.

Starting in 2023, the Lung Association trained the Michigan State School Nurse consultant to assist with training school nurses in six counties in Michigan (Genesee, Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Kent and Jackson). The State School Nurse Consultant assisted with training 20 school nurses from 3/1/2023 - 3/1/2024.
