In August of 2018 I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I really had not thought much about lung cancer before this. I was a athlete that participated in all kinds of endurance events. I was always a runner, that ran in high school and college. I was an All American cross country runner in college. I was a top ranked age group triathlete in the world. I led a very healthy lifestyle. I have no known reason for getting lung cancer besides having lungs. I know now that anyone can get lung cancer. Lung cancer has totally changed my life. I’m learning how to deal with this change one day at a time. I will be in treatment for the rest of my life or until a cure is found.
I’ve been growing in my faith and know my life is in His hands. This and the love I’ve received from family, friends, acquaintances and people I don’t even know has been overwhelming. Lung cancer has focused my life to what is most important. I pray that better treatments and earlier detection can some day be possible. By supporting Lung Force, I hope that day is coming sooner.
