Penny G., NY

My mother, Gloria Young, was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer in 2006. My mother was determined to fight it, but the cancer had already taken over. She died less than six months later at the age of 61.

If the low dose CT scan had been available in 2005, my mother would have met the criteria for the test and it may have saved her life. The test would have been able to identify the cancer in an earlier, more treatable stage, before it had a chance to travel through her body.

It is my hope that those who meet the criteria for this test give it serious consideration. If my mom were still with us, I would be encouraging her to consider it. I think of my mom and miss her every day, that will never change.
