I smoked cigarettes, on and off for 40 years. At my annual physical, my primary doctor, said I should get scanned. He saved my life by doing so. I had a CT scan, which lead to having a PET scan, which lead to having a biospy of a suspicious nodule on my lung. The biospy confirmed it was cancerous. I had stage 1B, NSCLC. I had surgery to remove my right lower lobe of my lung.
No cancer was found in lymph nodes. I get scanned every four months at the present. I said to my oncologist, I believe I'm cured and he agreed. If it wasn't for my primary doctor, suggesting I get a scan. The cancer would have grown and spread through my body. I would have never known till it was much later. Early detection is the key to better outcomes. Get the scan! It could save your life!
