In 2013 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, he was given six months. Six months and 12 days later he passed away on March 20, 2014.
March 21, 2015 after a bout with "bronchitis" that wasn't getting any better, my mom had a chest x-ray, that lead her to a diagnoses of stage 4 lung cancer, she was given six months, perhaps a year with treatment. After a couple rounds of chemo, and radiation she decided the quality was more important the quantity. She passed away May 11, 2016. My siblings and myself were able to keep both of our parents home till the bittersweet end. I became involved in the lung cancer community and spend my extra time, helping wherever the need is. I co-chair our annual lung cancer walk and I volunteer with the ALA. My mom and dad where my hero's and helping work towards more funding, and more research is my goal
