I was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 18. I dealt with symptoms for months, and no one suspected I had lung cancer due to my age and active lifestyle. I was a cross-country runner and never smoked. At age 32, I realized the importance of educating others on lung health and how this disease can affect anyone. I still am unsure how I got lung cancer, and people are shocked when I tell them this happened to me.
I look at life differently now and appreciate the little things. Hopefully, my story can teach others not to wait till they are older to take care of themselves and to keep fighting for answers if they think something is wrong.
