Elinore S., NY

My cancer (squamos cell) was discovered by a routine X-ray on December 6, 1983. I consequently went through surgery four days later. My upper right lobe was removed. I was 53 with 40 years of smoking behind me.

Needless to say I never smoked again. It returned in 2010 In the lower right lower lobe resectioned. I now have COPD. I am now 92 years old.and have a very loving family which is what helped pull me through.

My husband, Charles, passed October 18th this year at 101 years. Thankfully I was able to take care for him in his declining month as he took care of me through my illnesses.

I am a rare case of survival. Thanks to medical science, my doctors and a very loving family, I have lived long enough to see our great grandchildren.
