Andrea S., SC

In honor of my late mother Stephanie Orola Cooker. I am a LUNGFORCE Hero representing South Carolina. My mother passed away at the young age of 42 from lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. By the time she found out she had cancer she was already at stage IV .

She only lived 1 year after her prognosis. I know that if there was early detection, she would have had a better chance with her fight with lung cancer.

Everyone deserves the opportunity and resources to live a healthy life and funding and awareness is a necessity as an American. I have kids who attend middle school and high school and the vaping epidemic is widespread. Stricter laws and prevention would help deter the next generation on getting hooked on nicotine. I’m here to advocate for health lung awareness, early detection, affordable healthcare, more federal funding for the NIH and CDC so we can save more lives.
