Beth S., MO

On 4-22-22, my grandson was born and rushed to the NICU with respiratory distress syndrome. He had been born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his throat. So they said. It turned out that he had died, and they had brought him back, and what we thought was a full-term birth had been a premature birth instead. My daughter and son-in-law were in a panic, not knowing what was going on. They were requesting a pediatric pulmonologist because my grandson was aspirating. During his two-month stay, his diagnosis was respiratory failure. Between now and the last year, we have had several hospitalizations for sickness that has dealt with his lungs, seizures and heart. We know that he has lung disease at almost a year old. My daughter fears her son's death. I told her that his story was just beginning.
