The American Lung Association calls for the following actions to be taken by Texas' elected officials to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke:
- Increase funding for tobacco prevention and control programs;
- Improve the state’s surveillance of tobacco retailers, ensuring each retailer is subject to at least one annual compliance check; and
- Increase taxes on all tobacco products, including implementing a tax on e-cigarettes at parity with cigarettes.
