Find a Clinical Trial

The American Lung Association recommends considering clinical trials as soon as you are diagnosed, and every time you must make a treatment decision. Clinical trials are carefully monitored scientific research studies that test how well new medical approaches work in people. Each study answers scientific questions and tries to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose or treat a disease.

AERIFY 3

This study is an exploratory, two-part, 12-week, Phase 2a study to evaluate the mechanism of action of Itepekimab (anti-IL-33-mAb) and its impact on airway inflammation in former and current smokers with COPD, aged 40 to 70 years.

AERIFY-1

Evaluate the efficacy of itepekimab compared with placebo on the annualized rate of acute moderate-or-severe COPD exacerbations in former smokers with moderate-to-severe COPD

AERIFY-2

Evaluate the efficacy of itepekimab compared with placebo on the annualized rate of acute moderate-or-severe COPD exacerbations in former smokers with moderate-to-severe COPD

ARNASA

This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of astegolimab compared with placebo in participants with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who are former or current smokers and have a history of frequent exacerbations.

Clinical Study of the RheOx Bronchial Rheoplasty System in Treating the Symptoms of Chronic Bronchitis (RheSolve)

This is a prospective, randomized, parallel group, double-blind, sham-controlled, multicenter clinical trial following patients to 2 years. The objective is to assess the safety and effectiveness of Bronchial Rheoplasty for the treatment of the symptoms of chronic bronchitis in adult COPD patients with moderate to severe chronic bronchitis. A total of 270 patients will be randomized at up to 40 study centers in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

INSIGNIA PH-COPD

Phase 2a Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of MK-5475 in Adults With Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Miranda

Tozorakimab is hypothesized to have a beneficial effect in patients with COPD by reducing the frequency and severity of COPD exacerbations and improving COPD symptoms and quality of life.

Optimizing self-management COPD treatment through the American Lung Association Helpline

The current study will test the feasibility of using an engineering-inspired study design to identify effective COPD self-management treatment components.

RELIANCE

RELIANCE is multi-site pragmatic study to compare long-term roflumilast use with long-term azithromycin use in people who have COPD with chronic bronchitis who have been hospitalized in the past year.

RESOLUTE

We are looking for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who need to improve their disease control further. RESOLUTE is a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a benralizumab in patients with moderate to very severe COPD with a history of frequent COPD exacerbations and elevated peripheral blood eosinophils. Eosinophils are a type of blood cell that helps the body to fight infections and is involved in inflammation, immune and allergic reactions. Eligible patients must have a history of ≥2 moderate and/or severe COPD exacerbations in the previous year despite receiving triple (ICS/LABA/LAMA) background therapy for at least 3 months and ICS-based dual inhaled treatment for the remainder of the year. Eligible patients must also have an elevated blood eosinophil count.
