Two key committees in the U.S. House of Representatives are debating this legislation this week. If it becomes law, it will destabilize the entire healthcare system for everyone and make the air we breathe dirtier.  Please take a moment to call your Representative to tell them to stop the cuts to healthcare and clean air programs.

May is Asthma Awareness month, and this year we urgently need your voice to help us restore the National Asthma Control Program (NACP) and federal funding for asthma control programs.

The American Lung Association urges Congress to pass the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform (SOAR) Act, (S. 1406/H.R. 2902), bipartisan legislation to ensure anyone who requires supplemental oxygen can access the most appropriate type of oxygen for their needs.    

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s mission is to protect human health and the environment. But now, EPA leadership is taking actions that are fundamentally opposed to that mission. Please call on Congress to help ensure these protections are funded, implemented and enforced and ask them to oppose EPA efforts to roll them back.

Some members of Congress are trying to overturn three life-saving programs – Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks, and Heavy-Duty Omnibus standards. The policies were authorized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under the Clean Air Act, by granting waivers to allow states to curb deadly pollution from cars and trucks. Congress is attempting to improperly use a procedural tactic called Congressional Review Act resolutions to undo these 3 waivers. There are also other bills under consideration that could put additional Clean Air Act waivers at risk.  

Serious cuts to environmental and energy programs would mean less progress toward cleaner air. Congress must protect Medicaid and clean air funding – not roll back lifesaving investments in our health. Urge your members of Congress to oppose this dangerous budget plan!  

Please take a moment to call your representative and two Senators TODAY to tell them to preserve the CDMRP program. It is highly likely that you will be leaving a message with their staff. If you are sent to voicemail, please leave a message with the information in the script below. 

Congress must act to ensure that our nation’s health is not further jeopardized by these actions. Your voice matters – now more than ever. Contact your members of Congress today and urge them to protect lung health and reject any effort to halt, cut or freeze these critical programs.
